|
 Greetings,
2006 was the year that we at UG considered to be
a year of expansion or the year of new
publications. The year 2006 was a year that saw
many events take place in the region. While many
thought that the instability in the region would
reach Syria, it was proven that Syria’s ability
to remain steadfast helped its economy boost and
improve by 5%, thus helping us reach our goals
of expansion. Last year our main focus was
expansion; where we feel that we have achieved
the requested goal. The main aspect of the
expansion phase comes with the publication of
the Baladna Daily Newspaper. Being the pioneers
of publications is no easy task, but thanks to
the efforts of our dedicated staff, Baladna is
now setting standards for all daily newspapers.
Due to the dedication and spirit of our
employee’s, we at United Group have decided to
reward all of the United Group employees with
shares within the company, as we believe that if
it wasn’t for their hard work and commitment the
successes brought forth would not have been
achieved. The next phase of expansion comes with
the introducing of a new magazine to the family
of United Groups’ Publications which brings the
popular French Marie Claire Magazine to the
region; what’s different about this edition is
that for the first time it will be in the Arabic
Language. A plan for building a state of the art
printing compound in the Damascus Industrial
City has already been put to work, as we have
already purchased the land, and started the
necessary planning to establish this compound
for it will be the first private printing press
in Syria, which will be used by the United Group
and affiliates as well as other companies who
wish to print using the service. As we enter
2007 we have brought with us many more ideas of
expanding by also adding more publications,
along with the publications comes the idea of
renewing and improving our current website along
with the websites of our affiliates. Our
commitment to maintain the image of being the
pioneers in this industry will constitute our
ultimate differentiating edge, therefore helping
us to set the standards for the years to come.
